In this week’s episode Dre and the Black Cat travel to Japan to review a classic “mini pay-per-view” from 1991, the first WCW/New Japan Super Show – one of Dre’s personal favorite shows of all time.

Great recap as usual. Another homerun from my favorite podcast tag team (I assume you had matching outfits when you went to Tokyo).
Flying back from Japan, layover in Dallas, TSA made me take off my iron sheik pointy wrestling boots.
Stop by the Sportatorium for me and say hello to Fritz.
Here’s my usual diatribe:
Did this show have a bright green ring? I remember seeing a match where Flair lost in Japan to an abdominal stretch pin and the green ring reminded me of when you made it to Mike Tyson on Punch Out.
I love the comparison of Jim Herd’s hair to Lego hair. That’s totally what it looked like.
Tenzan was also in NWO Japan and was featured on Nitro along with Chono and Muta.
You may also know the Saito Suplex as Steve Williams’ back drop driver or death spike. Some jerk you may know called his version of it the Badass Death Spike.
I’m pretty sure you got Hiroshi Hase and Kensuke Sasake mixed up. Hase, who used to sport a wicked mustache, was the taller and leaner of the two and used the northern lights suplex as his finish. Sasake filled in for the Legion of Doom for a period in WCW too.
Dre’s batman impression is just awesome. Where did the whole “Good for yooooooou…good for yoooooooooou” come from? I’m sure I’ve heard it before elsewhere.
Thank you for the explanation on how the WCW and NWA titles got split. I always forget and can never keep it straight so the explanation is always appreciated. I’ll forget again in a week.
Great podcast as always! Looking forward to the No Holds Barred one!
The “Good for You” is a quote from Christian Bale (Batman) whe he went ape shit on a production set. He ruined some poor stage hand’s life. Just google “Christian Bale Rant” it’s a classic.
That’s it! That’s where I’ve heard it before!
