    Black Cat & Dre,

Bobby Heenan is gone! No point telling my wife — she has no idea who he was — but, I’m sure you guys are missing him, too. Looking forward to your tribute show.

Thank you for taking the time to read my email. I wanted to write and tell you about my wrestling book. My book is one of the most, if not the most, unique wrestling book ever. First, because of my brutal honesty about my story. Also, while most wrestling books are “rags to riches,” mine is “rags to not even a rag.”

It’s called I’m a Mark: Dreams and Destiny of a Wrestling Fan. Bryan Alvarez was kind enough to write the foreword. It’s about my life as a fan and trying to become a wrestling manager. I’ve gotten great feedback. The number one thing I hear is people identify with it on some level. I’ve also had some people, including a former independent wrestler, say it is a “must read” for anybody breaking into wrestling.

It’s a quick read, and most people finish it in one sitting. I’d be more than happy to send you a copy. Here’s the Amazon page if you would like to see some of the reviews. Once again, thank you for your time.

    Thank you,

I thought you would like to know you misspelled the word “skool”. Silly mistakes are a pet peeve of mine and they can ruin your website’s credibility. In the past I’ve used a tool like SpellingScan.com to keep mistakes off my website.

I recently heard mention Mr. R on your podcast and since that is one of my fondest childhood wrestling memories I thought I would send you the link. Since the tv shows had almost exclusively squash matches and certainly a title never change hands this was a big deal and possibly the best ending ever to a loser leave town then return as a masked wrestler angle.

Please excuse me if this has been answered/talked about a million times, I’m a fairly new fan of the pod, but is there any plan to do the 1997 Survivor Series? Is there some official-WWE reason you haven’t yet? This seems like a no-brainer! Love the show. Keep up the great work.

I write this one here because somehow I can not comment under the original video (Lawler/Funk – Empty Arena)

Why am I commenting under an episode of 2013? Because the Black Cat made a shout-out in this one to the year 2019 while promoting there little give-away-challenge about a magazine of the Atomic Elbow for a review on iTunes. He’s stated, that people from 2019 should not participate anymore – I found that funny.

Another topic brought me here: You talked about a Wrestler, Karl Krupp, and the tendency of german-based gimmicks to take the Iron Claw as a finisher. I have two little comments on that:
    – “Killer” Karl Krupp is from the Netherlands. When he was a child (he was born 1934), Nazi-Germany occupied his home-country. His gimmick and his strong mannerisms were there to mock the Nazis, because, in fact, he hated them (good boy). His last name was taken by the company Krupp (today ThyssenKrupp), based in the heavy industry and know for their “Kruppstahl”. Hitler stated about the Germans, that they would be “zäh wie Leder, flink wie ein Windhund und hart wie Kruppstahl” – translated: tough as leather, fast as a greyhound and hard as Krupp steel. Especially the last part became something like a saying in Germany. So – he is named after a steel company. In my opinion, this makes the IRON Claw so much more fitting and probably that’s why “german” wrestlers took this move.

If you look up Killer Karl Krupp on Youtube, you can find a great segment of him making a promo on Jerry Lawler and a little bit of their match.

    Black Cat and Dre,
Hey guys! I really just want to say thank you for your show. I’m nine years late, but I have been listening to everything I can since I never see any of the old gang anymore. Hearing you guys really brings me back to the Monday nights at Denny’s. I pledged to the patreon just today, so I’m looking forward to all the bonus episodes. A bit of a non sequiter, but Al Snow’s dog’s name was Pepper. Have you done an episode about wrestlers’ mascots? Matilda, Frankie, Damien, Lucifer etc? I grew up with WWF because I was a country kid with no cable or satellite and Superstars was the only thing I could see until 95 or so. Were there animals in any other feds?
    Thanks again for the show!

I’ve bugged you guys before on Twitter about covering this before but you should do an episode on the compilation called Rock N Roll Wrestling. Search 1987 rock n roll wrestling and you will find it. It’s 28 minutes long. It covers 80s Memphis wrestling. You guys will love it! I also want to thank you guys. You were one of the podcasts that I discovered in 2013/14 when I got back into wrestling after being out of the loop since 2001. You guys rule!

  11. Marc Allan says:

whats up guys, im loving the show! I run a youtube channel called “The Dirty Game Room” which focuses on retro video games and wrestling from the 80s and 90s, I love to partner up with you guys if possible. hit me up thanks!

  12. Evariste says:

Hey guys, quick question for you. Do you know why The Awesome 80’s podcasts isn’t putting out new episodes? I miss their show and was wondering if they are doing a new one under a different name. Thanks for the time, really appreciate OSWP and have been listening for years.
